Quote of the day: "Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don’t give up." - Anne Lamott

We're Off to See the Wizard

October 5, 2008 - The Wizard and Dominick

What a wonderful two days we had this year at the Land of Oz.  The weather was perfect and we had approximately 8300 people visit Beech Mountain just to attend Autumn at Oz.  This makes two years in a row of perfect weather.  We're hoping to make it three for the October 3rd and 4th of 2009!  Y'all come!!

Photo opportunity at The Pinnacle Inn Resort on Friday afternoon brought many people out.

October 4, 2008

The first day of the event, Saturday, brought over 4500 people to Beech Mountain.  You can see the beginning of our colors changing.  It's a great time of year to be in the High Country of NC.

Winter in Florida

Weather here in my home state, Florida, is simply oppressive during the summer months. Thankfully, I’ve learned to tolerate it! I even love to languish under a palm tree with the warm breezes slowly swaying the palms, creating an illusion of a hothouse paradise. But sometime this month we are going to wake up in the morning, walk outside, and languish in the luxury of cool fresh air.

Now, I’ve nothing against indoor air conditioning, but honestly—nothing feels or smells that same as glorious fresh air. Reminds me every day why I’ve continued to live here so long. So, bring on the outside air conditioning…we are all patiently waiting!
