Managing Your Personal Journal
If you have just joined JournalChatter, your journal page will be blank - showing no journal entries. You will need to add journal entries using the My Writing tab, which will start your journal.
  • Add a New Journal Entry:  To add a new journal entry, select the My Writing tab.  This will take you to the journal editor screen.  You will need to enter your journal entry Title in the text box labeled Title. The journal entry date will default to today's date.  Your journal entry text is entered into the editor screen. When complete, you need to submit your entry using the Post my Journal Entry button.

  • Edit an existing Journal Entry:  To edit an existing journal entry, go to your journal by selecting the My Journal tab. This displays all your journal entries you have previously submitted. The bottom of the entry displays various link information:  the categories assigned to this entry, and the links to those categories; the author (your name) and a link to your journal, the journal entry date, and a pen icon - which is the edit icon link.  To edit your entry, click on this pen icon.  It will take you to the edit entry screen.  Edit your journal entry, and when complete, click the Post my Journal Entry button to save your updated changes.

  • Delete a Journal Entry: To delete an existing journal entry, go to your journal by selecting the My Journal tab. This displays all your journal entries you have previously submitted.  The bottom of the entry displays various link information: the categories assigned to this entry, and the links to those categories; the author (your name) and a link to your journal, the journal entry date, and a 'X' icon - which is the delete icon link.  To delete your entry, click on this 'X' icon.  It will delete your journal entry from your journal and will no longer be displayed.

Understanding your Journal Options
  • Add an Image: To add an image to your journal entry, position your cursor in the journal where you want the image to be placed.  Click on the Browse button and select your image off your own computer.  When you have found the image you want to upload, click the Open button (if you want to cancel out of this, click the Cancel button). Once the Browse window has closed, click the Upload Image button. This will import your image into your journal entry.  The picture is automatically resized.

  • Add a Category:  To add a category, there is a text box preceeding the Add New Category button. Add the text of your new category and then click the Add New Category button.

  • Select existing Categories:  Simply click on the categories that are appropriate for your journal entry.  You may select multiple categories.

  • Allow Comments: When this box is checked, the JournalChatter community will be allowed to comment on your journal entry.  If this box is not checked, comments will not be allowed.

  • Privacy Options: You select the privacy level you feel most comfortable with. There are three levels of privacy: fully public, public to members only, and private. Fully public entries are viewable by all those who access our website - members and non-members alike. Entries marked public to members only will be viewable by members only, and only when logged into the website. Entries marked as private will only be viewable by you.
