Managing Your Personal Message Board
Message Boards are a members-only feature. You will only see the Message Board
links if you are logged into the JournalChatter website. You manage
your who sees your Message Board using the My Contacts member-only featrure.
If you no longer want a member to see your message board, click the Deny
or Block button beside the Member Name. You
may make changes to your My Contacts at any time.
Understanding your Message Board
- The Pink Envelope Icon: This icon is displayed if you need to make
a request to post a message to the owner's message board. It will display
as pink until the message board owner resolves the request.
- The Blue/Grey Envelope Icon: This icon is displayed once the message
board owner has resolved the post a message request and has accepted you to post
a message to her message board.
- What happens when I request to post a message to someone else?
When a request is made to post a message, an email is sent to the message
board owner telling her you are making a request to post a message. She then
needs to resolve this by going to her My Contacts tab and selecting to allow you to see her message board.
- How do JournalChatter members get to see my message board? Once
a JournalChatter community member has requested to post a message to you, and you
resolve this by accepting this request, only then can they see your message board.
- What can I do if I change my mind and no longer want someone to post a message
to me? If at any point in time you change your mind and no longer want
a member to see your message board, you can go to your My Contacts
tab and click the Block or Deny button for the
selected member. They will no longer be able to see your message board.
- How can I post a Private message? There is a checkbox beside
the Post button on each message board. To post a private message, click the
checkbox. A check mark will appear in the checkbox indicating the message is to
be sent as a private message. When you post your message, the recipient will
receive it marked as a private message.
- Who can see a Private message? When a message is posted as
private, only the sender and the recipient of the message will be able to see the
message text. All other users cannot see the message.
- Who can see messages not marked as Private? Community members
that are allowed to post messages to a message board can see all messages not marked
as private.
Understanding My Message Board Options
- How do I reply to a message on my message board? If you
look carefully at the end of each message, there is displayed the blue/grey envelope
icon - which is a link to the sender's own message board. To send a message
back to her, click this link and post a message on her message board.
- How can I delete a message from my message board?
If you look carefully at the messages in your message board, you will notice the
'X' delete icon. When this icon is clicked, the selected message will be deleted.
You are only allowed to delete messages from your own message board.
Understanding your Contact Settings
- Allow: The selected member will be allowed to see your message
board and post messages. The envelope icon will be blue/grey colored to indicate
that you have accepted the message request.
- Deny: The selected member will not be allowed to see your message
board, but may post to request a message. The envelope icon will be pink colored
to indicate they may request to post a message to you.
- Block: The selected member will not be able to see the link to
your message board. Neither the blue/gray or the pink icon will be displayed.
They cannot request to post a message and will no longer see the link to your message
board.
